“Saturday Night Live” cast member Chloe Fineman revealed that Tesla CEO Elon Musk made her “burst into tears” when he hosted the program, apparently resolving the mystery of who made who cry on the show.
In August, another cast member, Bowen Yang, was asked in an interview to recall the worst behavior he’s experienced from an “SNL” host. He didn’t give a name, but he said one host “made multiple cast members cry on Wednesday during the, before the table-read, because he hated the ideas.”
Fineman came forward in a video posted on TikTok on Monday. In the clip, which was deleted but captured by TMZ, Fineman said she had seen a news article about Musk being “butthurt” about an “SNL” impression of him from over the weekend and felt compelled to say something.
“I’m gonna come out and say, at long last, that I’m the cast member that he made cry, and he’s the host that made someone cry,” she said. “Maybe there’s others.”
The billionaire hosted “SNL” in May 2021, in an episode The Guardian called “brutally awkward” and “a legitimate disaster” in a recap at the time.
Fineman, in her TikTok video, said she had stayed up all night writing a sketch, which Musk did not like.
“I was so excited. I came in, I asked if you have any questions, and you stared at me like you were firing me from Tesla,” she said, adding that Musk was “pawing through my script, like flipping each page, being like, ‘I didn’t laugh, I didn’t laugh once. Not one time.’”
Musk has been palling around with Donald Trump at the president-elect’s Mar-a-Lago resort in the wake of the Republican’s election victory.
On Sunday, he got testy about Dana Carvey’s impression of him on the most recent episode of “SNL.”
“SNL has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality,” he wrote on X, criticizing the show for hosting Vice President Kamala Harris before the election.
